"The Glitter Queen"

OMG !!! These were designed by Kathy Zell who I call "The Glitter Queen". She had designed them specifically for Justin & Burks Holiday Celebration and let me tell you they were the star of the show. They took every ones breath away. They were just magical and fit right in with Justin& Burks unique style of displaying larger than life relics of the past in the most unusual way. A style all their own

TREASURE TRINKET DOMES AT MONTICELLO

All domes are made by my Sister Pam of "Pamdemoniam". Every dome is filled with vintage treasures carefully chosen to make each one unique and one of a kind.
The art work on this gift bag was made with graphics from vintage magazines. It's called "Sparkle". For a little extra bling I added a few crystals to them.
A dressed in tattered lace candelabra designed to display Christmas stockings
A floor lamp dressed up with a bird nest hat for the finishing touch. The bird is even wearing a baby crown.

A Little "Sparkle" at Monticello

I purchased this dress form for only three dollars, collaged it with vintage music paper and it was transformed Kathy Zell Style. My plan was to sell the dress form but now I love it so much that its all mine. With a great deal of help from the Display Queen Kathy Zell I finally filled my very little space full of Christmas bling . Kathy came by the day before the big move in and helped stage my space in my oh so little living room. It's all about display. Everything has to be pleasing to the eye, easy to get to and a good balance of eye candy. This was quite the challenge when your space is three feet by five. Thank god that she did help me because by the time we did this I was pretty much not functioning very well. I was obsessed with Christmas and hardly slept the last three days. I felt like I pretty much pointed and grunted in response to everything. Only a good friend would put up with this. I guess I'm just a lucky girl. The first thing on the agenda was to design t...

BREAK DOWN OR BREAKING GROUND

As visions of Suzy Orman dance in my head saying and I quote "YOU CANT AFFORD A STUDIO the new home of Gossamer Designs Studio is in its infancy. We have passed the major demolition of my very loved cottage/garage and are on to pouring the concrete for the new foundation of our very own new double car garage with a studio on the second floor.Fortunately I am still breathing, haven't had a break down and Bob and I haven't killed each other yet. So I guess every things going to plan. OK I admit I am a worry wart and it isn't my fault because I come from a long line of worry warts. I guess its just in my DNA. As my Bobby's mom would say "Well bless her heart she comes by it honestly". So I have decided that if I am a little off balance for the next couple of months and if I pace like a crazed weasel that will be just ok with me. Acceptance is the key word! So what if my whole back yard looks like a war zone. Acceptance what a nice word. So if you se...

BACK AT THE RANCH

There was a lot of exciting times at the Farm Chicks but the most exciting thing that happened to us was that Pamela Heron (Queen Of Pamelot ) one of sisters of "Sisters of the Fly" purchased our "Ode to A Cowgirl" crown. I swear when she put that crown on her head, she owned it. It was like it was specially made just for her. All she kept saying was I'm gonna go to hell and I came back with but you will look mighty purtty in hell. If your not familiar with them they are a great bunch of women that celebrate sisterhood and own vintage trailers that they take on caravan trips around the country. Each trailer is unique and individualized to represent the personality of its owner. They have western themed graphics painted on their trailers and the interiors are all done in western kitch . A big thank you to the "Queen Of Pamelot " from the Gossamer Gals. The second was getting hugs from our friend Celeste from Chaps. I don't think Beth or I have eve...

ROAD RULES CONTINUED...

I forgot to add a new road rule that was sent to me by Isabel of Maison Douce. #13. "Do not let the gas tank get so low that you might not make it to the next gas station because chances are someone will suffer-usually the driver" I love it! Thank You Isabel

JUST BREATHE

Wow what a whirl wind. We have been trying really hard to finish all projects today so we can have the next few days just to breathe. Almost made it but decided we will have to put off our last project until Monday night due to the fact that I hit the wall and Beth was pooped too. Since I am the Nap Queen I had a quick little nap but couldn't wait to get up so I can actually draw up some of my ideas for new designs. We will look a little different this year because silly us took two spaces in stead of one. One side will be Gossamer Designs and the other side will be a division of Gossamer called "Monarch". We decided to create a name that would be good for our lesser expensive designs. At this time if I were to try to describe the look I would have to say its bright, fun, funky, pop art, feminine with a retro whimsy feeling. WHATEVER!!! Beth has also come up with a couple more road rules. 11.Do not ask are we there yet? 12.Do not ask how many more miles? It's that time to...

GOSSAMER DESIGNS ON THE ROAD AGAIN - SPOKANE OR BUST!

All focus for the last 2 months has been getting ready for the upcoming Farm Chicks Show. In the last couple of weeks Beth and I have painted, waxed, drilled, hammered, glued, and made signs all for the show. I honestly cant believe all the preparation it takes. Oh yes and I managed to get a really nice sunburn on my back. No I couldn't stop to put sunscreen on. What was I thinking. Manic anyone. Unfortunately we will be missing a very important member of our road crew, my sister Pam. Who's going to cover for us when we need a potty break or talk us down when we had one too many coffee's? She definitely balances us out. Oh well I guess we will have to deal with it. For the second year in a row my Bobby is towing the trailer. I swear, I have know idea what I did to deserve him. Poor Bob with the amount of stuff he gets asked to do I think he thinks that he has two girlfriends. Does "Threes Company" ring any bells? Based on last years adventure we have decided to es...

Never Too Late For Christmas

My very good friend Kathy Zell & I made Christmas merchandise for my very tiny space at Monticello Antique Marketplace. I have to say I am very proud of our creations and how it all came together. With a few sheets of music paper, greenery and little bits of lace Kathy went to work transforming a some what boring space into a very magical haven to hold all our treasures that we designed. We cannot take all the credit my Sister Pam, my junk sister put together domes filled with tiny treasures of keys, jewelry, vintage ornaments etc. Your probably wondering why am going on about Christmas. I just had the last of my film developed and want to share my excitement and pictures with you.
